About
Piclo is on a mission to make our energy system smart, flexible and more sustainable.
The energy industry has entered a new era. Supply and demand are decentralising fast; energy companies are starting to embrace renewables and looking for new ways to reduce costs, increase efficiency and build a smarter grid. That’s where Piclo comes in.
Our flagship product, Piclo Flex, is an industry first - it’s the leading online marketplace for flexible energy trading in the UK, and frontrunner in a sector that’s poised to transform smart energy technology.
We’re hiring a Product Manager to work on both existing and new projects that are transforming the energy industry. You’ll be joining our friendly team at an exciting time, as the first auctions go live on our platform.
We're a small team but we have a really critical role in the energy industry, which means the work you'll be doing is a critical piece for the energy industry transitioning into a low carbon future.
Our mission as a business is about having the world powered by renewable energy, so this person would be taking part in a really important product (not many companies can say that!)
About you
Our ideal candidate meets many - but not necessarily all - of the below criteria:
-
You have 3+ years professional experience delivering an exceptional online product, probably as a product manager (we’re also interested in hearing from those working in development, design or UX/Service Design roles who have appetite to move into Product Management).
-
You are familiar with Trello, or another similar product management tool, and have experience of writing, scoping and tracking tickets as they move through the flow, reporting against KPIs as they’re delivered.
-
You are an incredibly motivated and organised person. You can prioritise work and set timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
-
You’re resourceful, resilient, and flexible, and will help clear the path for everyone to do their best work.
-
You are an excellent communicator who can build relationships with tech and non-tech teammates, making sure that everyone is clear what’s required of them.
-
You are able to balance high standards with speed of delivery - you’ll play a pivotal role in helping the team meet shared objectives on time, flagging potential risks or delays.
-
Confident with users, you’re happy gathering feedback (over the phone or face-to-face) and understanding user requirements to help iterate our product.
-
You’re fluent in English, even if it’s not your first language.
-
UX design (ideally) but a key thing is that they’ve worked in a software production team before (in some capacity). I really want this person to come with a strong sense of empathy for users as so much of doing well in Product roles is understanding the user requirements, and working with the production team to get those requirements met effectively.
Also desirable:
-
Experience in small startup environments.
-
Knowledge and experience of best practices for agile product management. Among other things, you‘re able to support the dev team to manage code reviews, testing and documentation.
-
Understanding of the energy industry, from the perspective of suppliers, the regulator or the networks.
About the role
We’re looking for an ambitious product manager to join our existing team as we scale, maintain and improve the PicloFlex platform and deliver other new innovations in smart energy.
In a typical week, you’ll be working with the production team to set priorities in Trello, scope new ideas and deliver existing projects. You’ll gather feedback and run project retrospectives, implementing changes to workflows and processes to help the team meet its objectives and scale.
You’ll work with our CPO and CTO to triage and prioritise issues as they emerge, seizing opportunities to dig into the detail and contribute to product strategy.
-
This is a full-time role, and we imagine you’ll work (mainly) office hours.
-
You’ll have the freedom to split your time between our bright, modern office in central London (Old Street/Shoreditch), or work remotely (~2 days per week) once you’re up to speed.
-
Start date ASAP
-
We’re a small team (10 people), so you would have a really decent amount of responsibility. We work in a very collaborative way, and we have great procedures in place to allow for flexible working (great remote working policy and personal budget for training or extra kit if needed).
How to apply...
Full managed
We take care of the entire process for you so we can manage and remove poor experiences like ghosting, no feedback, no updates and so on 🙌
All you have to do is let your Relationship Manager know you’re interested, ask them any questions you have and they will take care of the rest.
Straight to the front
From there, what’s next is super simple 😇
If you like the initial sound of the company/ role. We then act as your “in” with them and set up an initial phone chat with you and the Hiring Manager there.
The chat will be pretty informal and should only last 10-15 minutes - It's a fact find for both of you.
More than prepared
Before the call we will send you EVERYTHING you'll need to know about the company / who they are looking for / format of the call and so on.
You will be fully prepared and know what to expect at every stage 😀
