Job Description
About Ocean Bottle
We are a mission-driven company that is hoping to make a real impact on the ocean plastic problem. We have committed to both contributing a significant proportion of our revenue and at least half our profits to collecting ocean-bound plastic through our partner, the NGO The Plastic Bank.
We want to be at the leading edge of social enterprises that have global ambitions in taking global problems. There is no reason why businesses and the environment can not profit together, equally. In fact, we see this business model as the future.
What We're Building
Ocean Bottle is building a connection between people and long term ocean preservation. The purchase of one of our reusable bottles funds the collection of 1000 plastic bottles of ocean-bound plastic from impoverished coastal areas around the world. The reason we need to concentrate on these areas is that undeveloped countries have been unable to build the necessary infrastructure to effectively recycle plastic.
It has been estimated that up to 90% of ocean plastic originates from just 10 rivers in countries without this recycling infrastructure. Our partner, The Plastic Bank, uses the funds that we contribute to not only build this much-needed infrastructure but also to pay the local impoverished coastal communities a fair living wage to collect this plastic.
About us
Our mission is to give anyone that gives a damn about this planet the power to end the flow of plastics into the ocean! We have big plans and ambitions and have some great backing behind us - Ocean Bottle is made up of a small but growing team and this is an opportunity to come join a brand that is going to change the world for the better.
We have already had a load of pre-orders from our indiegogo campaign, private islands, corporates and NGOs, ocean & tech conferences and brand partners and are shipping out product to 88 countries including orders from Virgin Galactic and Ed Sheeran
About you
We’re looking for an effective communicator, organised and passionate person to work directly with the founders and the core team to manage the company through the next phase of growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented person to join a fast growing startup with the potential to progress quickly to running our customer realtionships. One of the core roles will be managing our inbound customers, (b2c and b2b) from initial enquiry through to passing on to the fulfilment team. You’ll get insight and experience into all areas of running a startup and you will interact with every part of the company.
In an ideal world, we want someone who’s familiar with working with customers and clients through inbound enquiries and a very passionate about providing an excellent customer experience.
You thrive with autonomy, and love the challenge of solving problems and learning new things. You are open minded and don’t mind being thrown random tasks and no challenge is too big OR too small. You create order where there might otherwise be chaos.
As we’re working with so many companies, partners and shipping bottles to many locations, you’ll need a real attention to detail and logistics oriented mindset. You digest information you are presented with and keep information stored at your finger-tips to educate customers and fellow teammates and formulate ideas to contribute to the smooth running and growth of the company. Underlying all of this, is a genuine care and empathy for customers, whereby you genuinely want to provide the best assistance you can.
So, if you’ve done something like this before and this description resonates with you, then hit apply!
